SEO is optimization for ranking in search results, and its outcome measure is clicks.
SEO does not disappear in the AI search era. Google states that eligibility for its AI features requires a page to be indexed and eligible to be shown with a snippet, so a site weak on SEO fundamentals will not appear in AI answers either.
